Sustainable Identities is a hosting project aimed at gathering inside the communities of Milis and Narbolia, the two hosting organizations, 10 young people from different countries of Europe interested in becoming part of the different activities the municipalities are carrying on in these different fields: social, environment, sustainable tourism and culture. We want to share with the European Voluneers the aims of the activities that the hosting public bodies are developing and the vision that is behind, so that the VE can give their personal contribution of ideas, experiences and culture in these fields. The cultural exchange realized while doing the core activities of the communities, while giving their active contribution to the communities, is considered the most efficient way to streghten the identities of all the subjects involved in the process in a way respectful of diversity and aware of the enrichment coming out from multicultural dialogue to each one’s benefit. Infact it could be said that identity inevitably turns violent when it refuses its constitutionally multi-voiced nature. This is why Amartya Sen considers that «the main hope for harmony in our tormented world lies in the plurality of our identities, which are mutually intertwined and reject any drastic divisions along insuperable and irresistible boundaries ». This project wants to give its contribution to this direction, profiting of the help of the young people of the towns especially the ones involved in the National Voluntary Service and of the Youth Council in order to facilitate the best integration of the EV in the communities. Example of specific activities: collaboration with Montiferru –Sinis CEASS, Sardinian Centre of Environmental Education and Sustainability, with the libraries, with the social services, with the toy libraries and the tourism promoting activities.
