Project place: the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius city.
The program aims to give shelter for young mothers. Besides that there are educative proposals of parental skills and work therapy, and training work skills for socially weak, unemployed women.
At the beginning of the project a volunteer will have more practical and technical tasks, but when she will get to know how the activities are and how they function, we will inspire volunteer to propose her own activities according to personal gifts.
These tasks according to the will of volunteer are available at the project:
To help in organizing work therapy proposals for young mother:
Creating postcards
Sewing
Cooking
To assist young mother in taking care of their babies (f.e. while young mother go shopping/arrange documents )
To help mothers to learn other languages
To organize trips for young mothers
To organize art therapy proposals to raise self awareness of women
To lead a sport exercises group
To help in organizing some cultural events for young mothers
To help to organize summer camps for single mothers and their children
Our organization starts the work on working days from 9:00 in the morning till 20:00 in the evening, the activities depend on the time of the day - in the morning more help with the childcare is needed, after lunch most group and activities start to take place. Weekends and festivals are not working days. The volunteer will volunteer around 35 hours per week.
Tasks
Different tasks of the volunteer: - Assisting the staff in developing life skills of the target group - Help to manage daily activities in the shelter (e.g. to cook for common lunch, keep the Care Home in order etc.) - Assisting mothers in the daily childcare - Help to organise promotional events to get a better contact to the local community - Assistance in fund-raising for different projects - Creation of a media - for the social skills learning group - Help to organise leisure time, camps and festivals for the community of Care Home - Solving of technical problems, or helping with the reparation of the Care Home if needed - Teaching foreign languages to mothers - Raise the self-awareness of the mothers and cultural Exchange - Cooperating with other volunteers
Criteria
VOLUNTEER'S PROFILES At least 18 years old, preferrably older than 22 or more (to have some experience with any babies before); Feminine gender (because we are working with women and babies); Open to social risk group clients; Preferably tolerant to religion (we belong to Vilnius achdiocese); Interested in working with women and small babies (knowledge is not so necessary,willingness is).
