In the past we were HO in EVS. Our Organization hosted volunteers from Greece, Germany, France, Spain, Armenia, Romania, Austria, Tukey, Holland. Young people spent about 9-10 months in our town helping us in the Center. For us it is a great experience. We could share our knowledge about work with disabled kids and teens. It is hard work, we use many pedagogic methods, we try to create our own as well. But we recognize that every new person gives us a new input in our work, new energy, ideas in every day activity. Volunteers come from other countries where work in the field of teens with special needs is different, there are other education systems, possibilities for them, other real life. It is a priceless experience not only for workers but specially for teens. Everyone leaves a peace of themselves. Even if our teens don`t speak any foreign language they communicate in other ways and they find always a very good contact with our guests. We become good friends.
Our experience in the field of EVS show that young people coming to our Center are very good motivated for it, they have knowledge about the topic, they are very interested about it, they want to learn more and more. For all of us it is also great fun.
We give the possibility to become a part of our work-family, organizing together free time, they visit our houses so they can know better our style of life, habits, tradition, etc.
Tasks
Our volunteers assist our children in every school day. They play with them, help to learn new knowledge and social skills. What is the most important, volunteers give them acceptance, attention and helping hand. Our volunteers have the opportunity to learn a lots about disability, special education system in Poland. They help to organize some of events, meetings, they can also run their own activities with their ideas, creat something together with the help of the workers.
Criteria
Just be yourself - emphaty, being helpful and friendly, open minded is very important. You dont need any education in the field of disability - we can teach you all the things you will need in that work. We offer you a friendly and famlily atmosphere and the support. Posted by: activeideas
