Profile of the EVS volunteers:
Speak good English
Most of the youth in Bitola and in Macedonia speak English very well. There will be
communication problem if the volunteer doesn’t speak English well. This is the most
important criterion and your English language capabilities might be checked if you are preselected
to do EVS at YMCA Bitola.
Be enthusiastic and motivated
A long term EVS project needs motivated volunteers. Please show us in your application
why you want to join the project and YMCA Bitola.
Be proactive
We expect the volunteer to work with us to come up with clear
goals and expectations and make the most from his/her time in the EVS.
That also means personal involvement in improving own EVS program.
Like the multimedia
Because this position involves working with videos, photos and
graphic design, newsletter and other publications, it will be helpful if
the volunteers like to work on multimedia.
The project will be realized in the city of Bitola, Macedonia. It is long term EVS project
with twelve months of service starting in June 2013 to May 2014. The activities in the
project will provide our volunteers opportunity for fostering creativity and personal as
well as professional growth, but also contribute to our community addressing important
local and global issues. The objectives of the project are:
- Provide opportunities for learning new methods of self expression
- Promote visual forms of expression
- Addressing environmental and other global issues tackling everyone’s life in our
common planet
- Promote healthy lifestyle among the youth
- Promote volunteering as sustainable option
- Promoting the European citizenship and European mobility
- Creating concrete products as videos and movies and presenting them in the local
community and on internet.
Description of the tasks of the volunteer:
- Participate in initial training in order to provide quality service
- Collaborating with young people from the city in order to better understand and
adapt to local environment and culture in Macedonia
- Attend basic training for using cameras and digital equipment
- Attend basic training for video editing
- Attend basic training for graphic design
- Works on videos, illustrations,
promotional materials and other
multimedia products that promote the
activities and / or
products that raise awareness and
offer solutions for various local and
global issues focusing on youth
- Graphic design of NotifY and other
promo materials
- Cooperates with local young people
and other people involved in the field
of culture and art in order to increase
the effect locally and internationally
- Organize presentations and promotions
of the movie products and share them
with other young people in Bitola
- Organize video showing nights, photo
exhibitions, etc.
- Deliver multimedia workshops for the
local youth
- Teach about own culture, traditions,
and language via different forms of
expression (videos, promo materials,
performances, celebrating national
holidays, international evenings, etc.)
- Publishes impressions (articles, videos,
illustrations) of life in the new
environment and volunteer service in
Macedonia and promotes the EVS
among youth locally, nationally and
internationally through various forms that are available (NotifY, social networks,
videos, leaflets, cooperation with other EVS volunteers in Macedonia etc..)
- Freedom on work on own multimedia and other related projects
- Assists in other activities in the host organization (workspace, administration,
