WORKING CONDITION • Work in centre is very diverse, we provide a wide range of leisure time activities especially for children • Work requires volunteer’s personal commitment • Volunteer is expected to prepare his/her own mini projects / presentations of the country, international evenings, cooking workshops.. / • Volunteer is expected to work on the preparation, implementation of other projects YiA / youth exchanges - sending, hosting, initiative.. / • Volunteer is supported by attending trainings and participations in projects YiA • Work in the centre is fragmented throughout the day, we can not provide work for 6 hours at a stretch • It is volunteer’s responsibility is to design, implement and do the necessary follow-up after their own activity. • The centre is focused on providing free time activities for children what means that the activities are usually run in the afternoon. Educational projects at schools and kindergartens run irregularly in the morning hours. • Volunteer assists the teachers during the formal education at schools on language lessons and other lessons based on their abilities • Volunteers run the conversational clubs for local community in volunteer´s native language on their own - being responsible for preparation of the topics, running the club – all necessary support in terms of methodology is provided by a professional teacher of foreign languages. • Activities are divided between regular and irregular activities during the school year and during the summer holidays.
Tasks WEEKLY REGULAR ACTIVITIES • creative workshops, pottery classes, patchwork club - assisting to teacher /5 hours + preparation/ • dancing courses for children - assisting to teacher /1 - 2 hours + preparation/ • French and English lessons at High school, Primary school - assisting to teacher /6 hours + preparation/ • conversation clubs in volunteer’s mother tongue for local community /4 hours + preparation/ • working with organisation’s Facebook page and contributing to volunteers’ blog WEEKLY, MONTHLY IRREGULAR ACTIVITIES • Preparation presentations about volunteer’s homeland, culture, habits and EVS for primary schools • Preparation of own activities for creative workshops for children and pupils • Preparation of international evenings – for example watching films in volunteer’s mother tongue, cooking workshops for club attendants. • Preparing the activities in the local orphanage based on volunteer´s abilities /cooking, sports activities, creative activities, studying support/ • Preparation works on youth exchanges projects /, initiatives, etc. /searching for suitable projects and partner organisations, support to Slovak groups being sent to youth exchanges, filling the role of a group leader of the Slovak group during youth exchanges in the town/ • Organisation of mini photo exhibitions in our organisation. • Preparation of PowerPoint presentations, taking photos and making videos from activities • Writing blog entries about volunteer’s activities and feelings during the project. WEEKLY COURSES AVALIABLE TO THE VOLUNTEER • Slovak lessons /2 hours/ • English lessons, conversations /2 hours/ • Music lessons – piano /2 hours/ • Pottery course /2 hours/ Procedure PROFILE OF VOLUNTEER • Volunteer should be able to work with people of different ages / children, teenagers, adults /. • Volunteer should be able to run various language clubs on their own. • Volunteer should be able to work on their own just with the support of a supervisor and/or mentor. • Volunteer should be able to make the first step in acquainted with the local population, should be naturally assertive but courteous and polite • Volunteer should be highly adaptable, responsible and independent. • Volunteer should be able to work as a team player. • Volunteer should be able to accept authorities. • Volunteer should be able to openly but politely express their views.
