Vacancy for EVS Volunteer in Iceland

AUS are looking for a female volunteer to join our project Grund. The volunteer have to have good English knowledge and we can only accept application from volunteer who does not need visa to stay in Iceland.
Grund is a home for over 240 elderly people whose health and well-being is taken care of. As the majority of the residents using the facilities in Grund are still in a considerably good state of health and can take care of themselves, the main activities consist in building and maintaining the homely atmosphere of the institution and looking after the residents.
Tasks
The volunteer's tasks consist of assisting the staff taking care of the elderly. The volunteer must be prepared to assist the staff with everything in the daily routine. The tasks include helping the elderly to get dressed, helping them to take a shower, feeding the clients unable to do so themselves, taking the elderly people for walks around the neighbourhood, assisting them in their leisure work (knitting, needlework or other handicrafts) and helping them in their daily physical activities indoors or outdoors. The volunteer will also be asked to help in the kitchen. All ideas that might enrich the life of the elderly people are welcome. They can include entertainment activities such as music, theatre, reading, creative and artistic hand-work, preparing special meals from the volunteer's home country, and, according to the volunteer's progressive knowledge of the Icelandic language, sharing ideas and telling stories about his/her native country. The project will be divided into two parts, 80% at the home for the elderly Grund, and 20% at the parish Óháði söfnuðurinn / Free Church
Criteria
This project starts in June/July and is for 9-12 months. Please send us your CV, motivation letter and photo.
Procedure
The resident in the home are willing to participate in singing and dancing so it would be great if the volunteer has good skills on Piano. Posted by: Ivan
