The EVS project aims to promote the social and cultural values of different communities from the Brașov county (such as a Hungarian, German, Roma and Romanian community) from the point of view of youngsters and through the active participation of young members of this communities. In order to do this, the EVS volunteers will work together with teenagers learning in urban schools (in Brașov) preparing methods and activities through which they can observe, discover and interact with the local communities. Together they will explore by bicycle the rural neighborhoods (especially during summer holidays) in order to get information about the socio-cultural particularities of the rural communities. The EVS volunteers will combine the field research with research at the office or in the library. The gathered information will be used in the last part of the project for touristic guides (especially designed for youngsters), public presentations and the project website. Through the different meetings with youngsters from Brașov county, the EVS volunteers will also investigate the habits, preferences and needs of local youngsters. So they will be able to develop specific activities based on non-formal methods for each community youngsters (for ex. Board-games events, sport activities, book or film reviews and presentations, presentation of non-formal education methods etc.). The EVS volunteers will be encouraged to create and implement their own ideas and interests. We are welcoming new and creative ideas, which can enrich the activities of our organization. The EVS volunteers will be supported by the members of the organization in order to increase the awareness of local community stakeholders regarding the identified needs of youngsters from rural areas.
Criteria
We are looking for volunteers who are open minded, flexible, interested in foreign cultures and ethnic groups, playing activities (in- and outdoor) and non-formal educational. The volunteers should be open to work with people from rural areas (facing social and economical obstacles). They should like bicycle riding or be willing to learn it. Posted by: activeideas
